Tony Pollard will NOT return to the Cowboys-49ers clash.
Late in the first-half of Sunday’s NFL divisional round game between the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, Cowboys tailback Tony Pollard exited the game with an apparent left leg injury. Pollard was attended to by medical personnel on the field and subsequently carted off to the locker room with an air cast on left leg.
Early in the second-half, the FOX broadcast announced that Pollard will not be returning to Sunday night’s game due to a high-ankle sprain.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport offered the following update on Pollard if the Cowboys were to advance past Sunday’s clash with the Niners.
“Cowboys RB Tony Pollard has been ruled out with an ankle injury described as a high-ankle sprain by the Fox broadcast. If Dallas advances, his availability would be in doubt.”

Due to Tony Pollard’s absence, it’s expected that former first-round pick Ezekiel Elliott will take the bulk of snaps in the backfield for Dallas in the second-half with rookie Malik Davis offering a change-of-pace role to alleviate some of Elliott’s workload.
The winner of the Cowboys-49ers clash will travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, January 29.
Gridiron Heroics will provide any and all updates on the condition of Tony Pollard as they become available.
