Weird Comparison: Tom Brady’s EPCOT Center Comment

Tom Brady‘s career will be remembered forever. His latest accomplishment is a victory in the country of Germany. He has won in London, Mexico City, and now Munich. After his victory on Sunday, the quote of the day was Tom Brady’s EPCOT center comment.

“I’m The EPCOT Center Of Quarterbacks”

Tom Brady has now won in four different countries and on two continents. It was clear that this victory in Munich meant a little more to him. He knew that he was undefeated internationally and wanted to stay that way. With the NFL looking to expand the countries that NFL will play in if Brady sticks around he could add to the list. After the game, Brady compared himself to a famous theme park saying, “I’m the EPCOT center of quarterbacks”. Tom Brady’s EPCOT center comment may confuse some so let me explain.

A Merging Of Two Worlds

Full disclosure. I am a massive Disney fan. The movies, the parks, the merchandise. You name it, I am into it. I host a podcast, Beers and Ears, about all things Disney. I worked at the Disney Store for two and a half years. My knowledge of the Disney company rivals my sports knowledge. Hearing Tom Brady’s EPCOT center comments make me smile from ear to ear because it is a mashup of my favorite things, sports, and Disney. This may seem like a confusing or throwaway comment to some but for me, this comment makes me chuckle.

What Is EPCOT Center?

EPCOT is one of the four theme parks in Walt Disney World in Florida. It is an acronym for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. In its first iteration, Walt Disney actually wanted it to be a real community that people would live in. After his death, Disney leadership decided to scrap the community part and altered the designs to a theme park. Opened in 1982 the park just celebrated its 40th year. At this point, Tom Brady’s EPCOT center comment still might not make sense. There is a certain part of the park that Brady is referring to, the World Showcase.

The World Showcase

Centered around a lagoon, the World Showcase is a section of the park that transports you to different countries. There are 11 countries in all and guests are invited to walk around the lagoon and be immersed in a different culture. Disney employs many people from these countries to work the World Showcase so the experience feels more authentic. Each land has different types of attractions from ones with Disney intellectual property to 360-degree circle theaters showcasing the beauty of the country. It’s a great experience that gives guests a whirlwind tour of the world.

Tom Brady’s EPCOT Center Comment

Hopefully, Tom Brady’s EPCOT center comment makes a little more sense now. Just as EPCOT is one theme park with many countries, Tom Brady is one football player with victories in many countries. This is one of those comparisons that one should not dive too much into as it falls apart pretty fast but it is a funny comment from Brady. With so many Super Bowl wins, Brady is no stranger to Disney World as the custom is to go to Disney World after the victory. His comment may have given us a peek at Brady’s guilty pleasure. Tom Brady’s EPCOT center comment is a deep-cut comparison. Your average person probably does not have a World Showcase comparison ready to go.
