Todd Bowles praises Baker Mayfield
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to have one of the better quarterback competitions in training camp. Tom Brady retired this offseason, leaving the Buccaneers needing a new starting quarterback for 2023. The Buccaneers signed Baker Mayfield in free agency to compete with Kyle Trask this summer for the starting job. Head coach Todd Bowles spoke about Mayfield’s impact on the team during the League Annual Meeting.

According to the Buccaneers website, Bowles said Mayfield would give the team much-needed playoff experience:
“[Baker] gives us competition and it gives us another warrior. It gives us a guy who has been to the playoffs before. At least, you have a proven guy, someone to compete with Kyle [Trask] that will still make sure we haven’t taken dips too low. I think when you lose the greatest quarterback of all time, everybody just assumes you are going to be bad, or at least that is the narrative, but it takes a team to win a Super Bowl and it also takes a team to play ballgames.
It’ll be interesting to see if they go with a veteran or Trask for their rebuild.
