The New York Giants finished with a 3-14 record during the 2024 NFL regular season and had the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Giants are looking to avoid another bottom five finish in the NFL during the 2025 season.

New York did a lot of fixing to its roster. The Giants have a much improved quarterback room and defensive line unit. With that being said, the schedule could be extremely difficult for this team to handle in 2025 despite finishing fourth in the NFC East a season ago. If they were to bottom out again in 2025, it would be interesting to see what they would do before the 2026 NFL season.
NFL Analyst Thinks New York Giants Will Pick In Top 5 and Select Clemson Tigers Defensive Tackle Peter Woods

Nick Baumgardner created his 2026 NFL mock draft and thinks that the Giants are going to be selecting third in the 2026 NFL Draft. With this pick, he would have New York selecting Clemson Tigers defensive tackle Peter Woods in this slot. Baumgardner said about Woods,
“The Giants might have found their future QB in Jaxson Dart, so they’re free here to take potentially the best overall player in this class — no offense to Caleb Downs.
There isn’t much Woods can’t do along the defensive front. He’s explosive, athletic and powerful enough to play any gap in the tackle box, as well as some on the edge. Woods has the potential to be the best DT prospect we’ve seen since Jalen Carter.”
Woods is 6’3″ and weighs 315 lbs. Outside of Dexter Lawrence at defensive tackle for the Giants, there are still some questions at defensive tackle, especially when it comes to stopping the run for New York. Woods during the 2024 season with Clemson recorded 26 tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble. Woods is on a Tigers team who is very talented on the defensive line.
He has a chance to be a Top 5 selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, but the Giants do not feel like a bottom five team in 2025 despite the tough schedule. Other than the New Orleans Saints and the Cleveland Browns, teams like the Indianapolis Colts, the Miami Dolphins, and the Dallas Cowboys have a chance to finish in the bottom five rather than the Giants do.
