The Tennessee Titans dropped to 0-2 in a primetime matchup on Monday Night Football. They were handled rather easily by the Buffalo Bills in a 41-7 final.
Heading into week 3, the concerns about the Titans are real. They suffered an embarrassing home defeat in week 1 against a New York Giants team many considered inferior.
Monday, on a national stage, they showed less than they did in Week 1. Granted, a night home-opener at Buffalo is far from easy, but the Titans were the AFC’s #1 seed heading into last year’s playoffs.
Offensively, the four turnovers stand out. Tannehill, though making a few good throws early on, struggled against a swarming Bills defense, throwing two costly interceptions. Titans quarterbacks only completed 12 passes during the entire course of the game. The running game suffered too. In two games, star RB Derrick Henry is averaging a meager 1.4 yards after contact per rush (Pro Football Reference). The Titans only managed 80 yards rushing as a team on Monday night.
One bright spot so far in the still-young season is rookie WR Treylon Burks. Though passing was scarce in this game, Burks led the team in yards (47) and yards per catch average (11.8) Over the course of two games the hopeful star has 102 yards, averaging 14.6 yards per catch.
Up next the Titans will host the fellow 0-2 Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, September 25th at 1 p.m. EST.
