Week Five of the college football season is going to have a lot of politics surrounding it because former president and current candidate Donald Trump will be attending the Georgia vs. Alabama game this weekend, and the person he is running against, Kamala Harris, vice presidential candidate, Tim Walz will be attending the Michigan game.
Walz is a former high school football coach, so he had been around the game for a long time; this weekend, he will be campaigning in Ann Arbor, so he will take in the action.
Tim Walz Will See His Home State Play On Saturday
Walz, the governor of Minnesota, will get to watch the Michigan game, and lucky for him because the Michigan Wolverines are taking on his home state’s team, the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
The current Democratic vice president candidate will have a big decision to make: Will he root for his home team or for Michigan, which is the state that he and Harris most likely have to win to win the election?
Michigan is an important state in this year’s election. It is known as a swing state, meaning it could go either red or blue. Both parties have been campaigning there for a handful of months, doing everything they can to win the state.
Walz probably won’t have any rooting interest since the Gophers have gotten off to a bad start this season. Last week, they were beaten by Iowa, and it seems like they will most likely be making a head coaching change this upcoming season, getting rid of P. J. Fleck.
Michigan just had a huge win last week against USC, saving their season after a horrible loss to Texas a few weeks ago. Now, the Wolverines are going to try to beat Minnesota and keep their playoff hopes alive.
