The college football regular season opener for Florida State and Alabama has some fresh bulletin board material in June. FSU didn’t need any more motivation to want to defeat the Crimson Tide after the CFP playoff committee left the then-undefeated Seminoles out of the playoffs in 2023 in favor of Nick Saban’s squad.
Saban is no longer with the program, and a recent transfer to FSU has taken a direct shot at Alabama and its second-year head coach, Kalen DeBoer.
College Football: FSU quarterback dares Alabama

Per an interview published by On3’s Pete Nakos, Thomas Castellanos dared the Crimson Tide to stop him in their contest scheduled for Aug. 30 at Doak Campbell Stadium.
“I’m excited, man,” Castellanos said. “People, I don’t know if they know, but you go back and watch every first game that I played in, we always start fast. I dreamed of moments like this. I dreamed of playing against Alabama. They don’t have Nick Saban to save them. I just don’t see them stopping me.
“And then the ACC. I feel like I tore the ACC up by my (expletive) self for the last two years, and now I’m with a squad. I hope people don’t think that Florida State is going to be the same team it was last year because we have weapons. People can’t just sit back in zone coverage and watch me.”
Thomas Castellanos has the Crimson Tide’s attention now

The senior quarterback played at UCF in 2022 before transferring to and playing for Boston College in 2023-2024. He’s thrown for 3,689 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions in his college career. He’s added 1,427 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground.
Castellanos wasn’t a household name before transferring to FSU, but he has the attention of one of the best and most storied programs before their matchup in August.
