The former New York Jets quarterback went from the broadcast booth to a hospital bed to county jail in 72 hours. New surveillance footage showing the Fox Sports analyst wandering downtown streets has fans questioning everything about that night.

Former NFL QB Mark Sanchez Faces Up to 16 Years in Prison After Indianapolis Incident

Sanchez faces a Level 5 felony battery charge for serious bodily injury, carrying 16 years in prison. The charge came days after his initial arrest on three misdemeanors including public intoxication, battery with injury, and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, reports Daily Mail.

The dispute with the truck driver started over a parking space at a downtown Indianapolis hotel loading dock around 12:30 AM on Saturday.

The driver was sleeping in his truck when the confrontation began. During the altercation, the driver reportedly stabbed Sanchez in self-defense, fearing for his life.

TMZ obtained surveillance footage showing Sanchez stumbling around downtown Indianapolis for approximately 20 minutes before the violent encounter.

Mark Sanchez spent about 20 minutes roaming and, at times, stumbling around downtown Indianapolis before the violent encounter with his alleged victim … and this new video shows nearly all of his activity.

The video captures him pausing behind a dumpster, wandering streets, and eventually approaching the truck driver’s vehicle. Both men ended up hospitalized with severe injuries.

Fox Sports pulled Sanchez from broadcasting duties immediately, replacing him with former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn for Sunday’s Raiders-Colts game.

The 39-year-old spent five seasons with the Jets after being selected fifth overall in the 2009 NFL Draft, making two AFC Championship game appearances.

NFL Fans Question Mark Sanchez’s Behavior Based On New Video Evidence

The footage divided fans immediately. Some pointed out behavior they found deeply troubling beyond simple intoxication.

One fan wrote, “None of this makes sense. There’s more to this story and drinking a little too much isn’t it. He was either on drinks or drugged.” Another claimed, “I know this behavior. He was looking to score some drugs. 100% guarantee it.”

A third fan observed, “He’s not walking aimlessly, really, he’s looking for potential dealers to score from.” The fourth added, “This isn’t being drunk this is something else.”

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office continues investigating the incident. Sanchez posted bond and was released from custody pending trial.

The truck driver’s condition remains serious, and his legal team filed a civil suit against both Sanchez and Fox Sports.

Whether the former USC standout sees prison time depends on how prosecutors and a jury view the evidence.

The surveillance footage will play a central role in determining what actually happened that night in Indianapolis.
