The Florida Gators are going to be one of the most interesting teams in the SEC Conference to watch out for during the 2025 college football season. Florida finished with a 7-5 record during the 2024 season and that came after a slow start.

Fox Sports Analyst Joel Klatt Has Some Concerns With Florida Gators Quarterback DJ Lagway Entering the 2025 College Football Season

“When I first did this, I had the Gators at No. 10, but the recent injury news about quarterback DJ Lagway caused some hesitation. Why does it seem like he’s always banged up? Florida is very good, if not a borderline great team, but this injury-prone offseason for Lagway has me concerned for coach Billy Napier. Florida went 8-5 a year ago, winning its last four games as Napier fought off hot seat rumors. If Lagway isn’t healthy, however, I don’t love UF. If he is, Florida is a top-10 team. The season changed when he became the Gators’ starting quarterback, going 6-1 as the one loss came to Georgia, and he left that game early due to injury. That schedule looks more brutal if Lagway isn’t healthy.”
It is interesting that Klatt thinks Florida will be a Top 10 team in the nation if Lagway is healthy. He was already in a boot earlier this offseason for his leg injury. If Lagway is very good, then this football team could be very good during the 2025 college football season. Two key games to watch for early in the season for Florida will be on the road on September 13 against the LSU Tigers and October 4 at home against the Texas Longhorns.
During the 2024 season, he only completed 59.9% of his passes for 1,915 yards, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Lagway is 6’3″ and weighs 247 lbs. He is being built into the prototypical NFL quarterback. Time will tell if Florida can win a bunch of games in 2025 because of his performances.
