The biggest college football game of the 2025 season will appear in Week 1 when the Texas Longhorns face the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus, Ohio at Buckeyes Stadium. Texas and Ohio State are expected to be ranked in the Top 5 entering the 2025 college football season.

The Longhorns and the Buckeyes met in the college football playoffs semifinals during the 2024 season, with Ohio State winning that meeting over Texas 28-14. It is not a surprise that this matchup is going to get a lot of hype heading into Week 1 of the 2025 college football season.
College GameDay Heading To Columbus, Ohio For the Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes

Alex Byington of on3.com reported on Tuesday about the Buckeyes and the Longhorns receiving College GameDay for Week 1 of the college football season,
“Lee Corso‘s final appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay will be a return to where it all began for the legendary ESPN icon. On Tuesday, College GameDay announced its 2025 Week 1 show will be televised from Columbus, Ohio ahead of Aug. 30’s highly-anticipated non-conference showdown between host Ohio State and Texas, a potential Top-5 matchup.
Earlier this summer, ESPN announced the 89-year-old Corso will formally sign off after a memorable and remarkable 38 years on ESPN’s College GameDay during the first show of the 2025 college football season. In addition to the show’s traditional pregame format, ESPN notes that it will also present special programming celebrating Corso in the days leading up to his final show. Corso turns 90 in August, making his run all the more impressive.”
Corso is an iconic member of ESPN College GameDay. Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, and Kirk Herbstreit are also on the set with Corso. It is going to be an interesting day of college football when the day comes between Texas and Ohio State.

There will be a lot of big Week 1 games in college football. ESPN College GameDay felt like Ohio State and Texas will be the biggest game on the calendar for that weekend. Arch Manning is going to be the story for the Longhorns. The story for the Buckeyes will be if they can repeat as national champions.
However, it is a big deal that Corso will be on the set with ESPN before this matchup. This game has the chance to be a potential national championship preview later on in the season.
