Stefon Diggs tore his ACL last season with the Houston Texans, cutting short what looked like a bounce-back year. The New England Patriots still signed him to a three-year, $69 million deal despite the injury. Most receivers take 9 to 12 months to recover fully, but Diggs returned faster than expected, turning heads across the league.

Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills proved the gamble might pay off. But one analyst’s take on why Diggs looked so good had fans losing their minds.

The stats speak for themselves. Diggs caught 10 passes for 146 yards against his old team on Sunday Night Football. The previous week he had seven catches for 101 yards. Back-to-back 100-yard games for a player who couldn’t even run routes eight months ago.

Cam Newton saw the performance and decided to get creative on First Take. The former Patriots quarterback praised Diggs but added a twist that had everyone talking.

“Drake Maye did an unbelievable job managing the game.”

Newton said Diggs looked like his vintage self, then joked about the receiver’s relationship with rapper Cardi B being the secret sauce behind his success.

Newton also praised Drake Maye’s performance, saying, “Drake Maye did an unbelievable job at managing the game,” emphasizing that every QB needs that skill to be effective.

The 2015 MVP didn’t stop there. Newton also praised Patriots rookie Drake Maye for managing the game effectively, even though Maye threw for 273 yards without a touchdown.

The young quarterback didn’t turn the ball over, letting the Patriots control the clock and punch it on the ground.

Diggs made it clear after the game that beating Buffalo meant something special. He admitted he loved the victory while maintaining respect for his former teammates.

The 31-year-old receiver wanted to prove himself to everyone watching, especially the team that shipped him out last year.

Cam’s comments quickly turned into the internet’s latest roast, and fans jumped on it immediately.

NFL Fans Destroy Cam Newton Over Bizarre Stefon Diggs Commentary

Fans went full-on savage on social media, roasting Newton for that segment. One fan wrote, “Why does ESPN give this clown a microphone?”

Another added, “Cam I’m not with ya on this one and I’m not being biased. I’ll settle on this is your bad guy tv character.”

The criticism kept rolling in. A third fan pointed out, “Imagine if Shadeur did this. They would be throwing a party on set.”

The fourth fan noted, “First Take Ain’t Been The Same Since Shannon. And Nobody Cares About Cam Newton. Just Not Good On TV.”

The harshest take came from a fan who questioned Newton’s football knowledge entirely. The fifth fan wrote, “Yeah, he’s officially confused on what managing a game is.” The comment referenced Newton’s praise of Maye’s game management despite the rookie not accounting for any touchdowns.

Buffalo came into Foxborough undefeated and left with their first loss. Josh Allen targeted six different receivers, but none matched Diggs’ output. Only one Bills receiver barely topped 100 yards. The lack of a true WR1 showed exactly when it mattered most.

The Patriots got precisely what they wanted in Diggs. The Bills gained cap flexibility to secure Allen, James Cook, and other key pieces. Both teams walked away winners from the trade. Newton’s take? Fans made it clear that it was a loss.
