There was a lot of noise surrounding Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy at the start of the 2024 season. When things were bad for them early in the season, many fans called for him to be fired. As of now, they have a 6-8 record. Cooper Rush has started the last several games for them with Dak Prescott out due to injury.
It could have gone into a free fall for them, but McCarthy had his players winning hard and winning games. Dallas could play spoiler this weekend when they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-6) on Sunday night football.
CBS Sports Writer Pete Prisco Thinks That the Dallas Cowboys Saved Mike McCarthy’s Job
Many are wondering whether or not owner Jerry Jones is going to fire the head coach at the end of the season. The odds are with Dallas showing progress during the season that they will keep him for another season.
CBS Sports Writer Pete Prisco said about the Cowboys head coach:
“They’re not going to make the post season but … they might be saving Mike McCarthy’s job.”
There is a good chance that Jones will not fire McCarthy after the season is over. Dallas does not have an easy schedule over the final three games of the season, but they could win another game or two before the end of the season.

If they were to keep him around in 2025, it would be interesting to see how the Cowboys fanbase would react to that. There is still a chance that they could fire him and look for someone else next year. To go along with that, owner Jerry Jones will have to decide whether to trade or give Micah Parsons a contract extension this offseason.
