The New York Jets will be making some tough decisions soon about their quarterbacks, despite having legendary Aaron Rodgers in their squad. Rodgers joined the Jets in 2023, with the team quickly leaning on him to take care of business and move up the ladder. However, Rodgers joining the team did not exactly work out for the Jets.
Currently, the New York Jets are ranked third in the AFC East, with a current 3-10 record on the season. Most recently, the Jets took on the Miami Dolphins and lost the game with a final score of 32-26. As of now, New York is riding a four-game losing streak, with their last victory coming against the Houston Texans.
According to a recent report, the Jets are on the hunt for a younger quarterback to bear the yoke along with or without Rodgers, whose future is still doubtful. However, recently Rodgers came out to say that he is definitely going to hang on to the Jets in the coming season. In a recent episode of ‘NFL Game Day’, reporter Ian Rapoport discussed this shady topic.
“My understanding is the Jets could and likely will still draft a young quarterback whether or not Aaron Rodgers is still on the roster. They draft a young QB they need a bridge starter, essentially that’s what Rodgers is now.” Rapoport said on ‘NFL Game Day’.
Aaron Rodgers joined the New York Jets in 2023 after being a part of the Green Bay Packers for quite a while. Rodgers came to the Jets on a $112.5 million contract, but then took a $34 million pay cut to ensure that the team had plenty of money to find and develop younger talents, which it looks like is already happening.
Aaron Rodgers Shines But Jets Lose In Game Against Miami Dolphins
New York Jets fans were disappointed on Sunday after their team lost to the Miami Dolphins in overtime. The Jets were thrown out of the playoffs, after the game ended with a final score of 32-26, granting the Dolphins the win. Rodgers indeed tried his best in the game, going for a stunning 339 yards, and completing 27 passes out of 39 attempts, with a single TD.
While Aaron Rodgers’ play in the game against the Dolphins was indeed impressive, the effort was not enough to allow the Jets into the playoffs this season. This will make it the 14th straight year that the Jets have not made the playoffs.
