The Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons appear to be having a very hard time of getting together and agreeing to a long-term contract extension. With Parsons being a first-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, he has been with the team for four seasons and is entering his fifth season with the team.

Parsons is looking for a long-term deal with the franchise, but there is a chance that he may have to holdout of the 2025 season or potentially force a trade. There is a lot of drama involving, owner Jerry Jones, Parsons, and the Cowboys organization at the moment.

Dianni Russini of The Athletic has dug deep into the drama between the Cowboys and Parsons during the offseason with the contract negotiation talks. There is no doubt that it has been rough sailing for everyone involved. Russini said on her Twitter page about the current situation at the moment,
“Among the key issues: Micah Parsons spoke directly with Jerry Jones over multiple days in the spring. The team believed those conversations were negotiations and that it had a deal, multiple league sources said. But Parsons believed the talks were just conversations and wanted his agent to handle the negotiations. When his agent attempted to start negotiations, the Cowboys declined to engage with him and told the pass rusher that they believed they already had a deal. Now, the team is refusing to engage with Parsons’ agent at all, creating a tense standoff amid increasing friction.”
This is absolutely insane that this is occurring between all parties involved. There was no need for this to get to this point. This could potentially lead to Parsons requesting a trade next. If he were to request a trade from Dallas, it could get even worse.
A lot of Cowboys fans are not thrilled with owner Jerry Jones that all of this is coming out. If Dallas wants to end this drama, Jones needs to stop being stubborn and sign Parsons to a long-term deal. If they don’t get it done before Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles, there is a chance that Parsons may not play a snap for the Cowboys until his contract extension is officially signed.
