There are a lot of NFL fans who like certain networks more than others. A lot of fans love to watch NFL Network, CBS Sports, and FOX Sports.

Some of these NFL fans are not fans of the way ESPN can carry out its broadcast and media coverage of the sport sometimes. There is no doubt that there is a lot of things changing moving forward in the way games are watched. It was a surprise to fans when there were games that would be streamed on Amazon Prime or Peacock as well. What was the latest blockbuster TV deal that is expected to happen?
The Athletic Reports That ESPN and NFL Are Agreeing To a Blockbuster Billon Dollar Deal

Andrew Marchand, a senior writer for The Athletic, reported a shocking piece of news about the NFL on Friday,
“NEWS: ESPN and NFL have agreed to a blockbuster billion dollar deal that will result in top media properties, like RedZone, moving to the network, The Athletic has learned. An official announcement is expected next week.”
When this news was dropped, there seemed to be a lot of unhappy campers with NFL fans. Marchand also said in his article that he wrote,
“An official announcement is expected next week. Disney, ESPN’s parent company, has its earnings call on Wednesday.
ESPN and the NFL declined comment.
The monumental discussions that were on and off again for four years have resulted in what is said to be a complicated agreement, according to sources briefed on it. ESPN is expected to have access to RedZone, NFL Network, seven more regular-season games, the NFL’s fantasy football business, potential to integrate special features (including betting) and potentially more assets.
The agreement coincides with ESPN’s forthcoming direct-to-consumer service that will formally launch in the next few weeks.
The service, which will cost $29.99 per month, will allow subscribers to bypass cable or satellite providers to watch all ESPN programming, including live games, through ESPN’s app. Viewers who already have access to ESPN through cable, satellite or bundled streaming TV services will be able to watch ESPN through the new app, as well as watching all its networks traditionally through its channels.”
A lot of people love to watch NFL Red Zone on Sunday’s with Scott Hanson. Hanson is one of the best people in the business. With this TV deal potentially happening, what could it potentially mean for the future of NFL Network amongst other things? That remains to be seen as well and there are fans who are not happy with the ESPN gaining more NFL coverage because there has backlash from the fans about it.

Welp, there goes redzone, it’ll be 5 ppl instead of just Scott Hanson
— Clayton_Reynolds (@Runn1ngMach1ne) August 1, 2025
There are a lot of people who watch NFL Red Zone for Hanson’s entertainment. It is seven hours of commercial free football. In the report, it also mentions that this deal would not be taking place until 2026-2027, and it could also mean that the Super Bowl next season could be potentially aired on ABC. Lastly, the NFL fans have every right to be upset with this money decision, but everyone should know that money also talks.
