It’s July 14, and aside from from a twitter storm surrounding Zach Wilson’s love life, things are slow in Jets land. Even the rampant speculation over the weight of Mekhi Becton is in a holding pattern. So here is a fun list of the seven most famous New York Jets fans who publicly support Gang Green.

Adam Sandler

Sandler is one of the most famous comedians in the entire world, and probably the single most famous Jets fan. Sandler achieved initial fame in the early 1990’s after becoming a member of the Saturday Night Live crew, although this lasted only a few years. His career truly exploded later in the decade with starring roles in Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and The Waterboy. Sandler started his production company Happy Madison Productions after his initial success as a film star, and has been acting and producing films ever since. He has been a staple on the sideline of the Jets’ stadium for years, and can often be seen chatting with players before the games. Sandler was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1966.
George R. R. Martin

Martin was a writer for years before HBO’s Game of Thrones became an international mega hit. After moving from teaching to writing full time in the late 1970’s, he spent almost three decades relatively unknown. A Game of Thrones, the first book in the series A Song of Ice and Fire wasn’t released until 1996. There was almost a decade of slow fan buildup before he truly became well known. HBO bought the television rights in 2007 and the show was an instant hit upon release in 2011. Martin was born in Bayonne, NJ in 1948.
Ray Romano

Romano is another of many comedians on the list. It seems coincidental, but maybe being a Jets fan publicly requires more than a bit of humor. Romano hit it huge with “Ray Barone” the titular character of Everybody Loves Raymond. At one point, the show was the highest grossing program on television and Romano was the most well compensated. He has gone on to star in numerous films, and is notable for his work as a voice actor. Romano also is an avid poker player, having competed in the World Series of Poker on seven different occasions. Romano was born in New York City, NY in 1957.
Kevin James

James worked the stand up comedy circuit for almost a decade before landing role of “Doug Hefferenan” on Everybody Loves Raymond. The positive response to the character gave him the opportunity to portray “Doug” on his own spinoff show The King of Queens for ten years. The success of the show also carried him to the big screen in the late 2000’s where he has notoriously collaborated with Adam Sandler. James was born in Mineola, NY in 1965.
Chris Rock

Rock’s stint on SNL took place right around the same time as as Sandlers’ and was even shorter. His success however, bolstered his stand up comedy career making him one of the most popular comics in America. Rock’s popularity afforded him leading man status in Hollywood, but he has maintained a strong stand up presence throughout his career. He has managed to balance stand-up, acting, and producing well over the years, and he has acclaim in both the comedic and dramatic genre. Particularly in later years, Rock has been active in films and documentaries that promote social awareness of the African-American experience. Rock was born in Andrews, SC in 1965.
Larry David

David’s career is long and full of acclaim, but none more noteworthy than his work on Seinfeld. After briefly writing for SNL, David joined Jerry Seinfeld to create the show, which is one of the most successful sitcoms of all time. After a ten year run the show ended, but David almost immediately jumped into Curb Your Enthusiasm. While it has never hit quite the same heights as Seinfeld, the HBO comedy is widely acclaimed and has run for over 20 years. David’s love for the Jets has slipped into his work, and he even wrote one popular episode of Curb in which a friend of his passed away due to the strain of being Jets fan. David was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1947.
Jay-Z

Shawn Carter aka Jay-Z is one of the most iconic hip hop artists in music history. His skill as an entrepreneur was evident from the very beginning of his career. He self produced his first record after launching his own record label (Roc-A-Fella) and it hit 23 on the Billboard Top 200. Carter never looked back from there, and after 14 number one solo studio albums, 24 Grammy Awards, and a superstar marriage to Beyoncé Knowles, he had solidified himself as a legend in the recording industry. Jay-Z has expanded his entrepreneurial endeavors into fragrances, cannabis, clothing lines, and much more. Jay-Z was born in New York City, NY in 1969.
Honorable Mention: Rich Eisen

NFL Network’s Rich Eisen is the most well known Jets fan in the sports world. Although many didn’t know his allegiance back in his Sports Center days, he has become more vocal about it on his own talkshow, The Rich Eisen Show. He was recently the narrator for the Jets’ docuseries Flight 2022: New Heights.
There are only a few days left until training camp kicks off and the world is once again full of football. Until then, have fun with this list of the seven most famous New York Jets Fans!
