The Florida Gators decided to fire Billy Napier as head coach on Sunday during the middle of his fourth season with the program. They fired him with a 3-4 record this season despite winning the last two games.

Florida decided to make the coaching change before the bye week and then they will face the Georgia Bulldogs. The Gators will be looking for a head coach who will get them back to national prominence for the long haul. Athletic director Scott Stricklin had some words to say after Napier was fired on Sunday.
Florida Gators AD Scott Stricklin Makes Statement After Billy Napier Firing

It is not a surprise that the Gators AD released a statement after Napier was fired on Sunday. Stricklin said in some of his statement,
“The search will focus on the hiring of an elite football coach who will embody the standard we have at the University of Florida, and we will continue to provide all of the necessary resources for that coach, his staff and the players to be successful.”
There are a lot of names that the Gators could potentially go after. James Franklin, Lane Kiffin, Dan Lanning, and much more options could be the next head coach for this program. Florida has not made the playoffs yet in the college football playoffs era. It has been a long time since they tasted postseason football. A lot of fans believe that firing Napier doesn’t solve the problem. They believe the problems with the football program begin with Stricklin.
