Two weeks ago I gave you all my 4 favorite New Orleans Saints season props to bet before week 1. On Thursday I gave you my NFL Week 1 picks. Here are my New Orleans Saints props for week 1.
The Red Beard: New Orleans Saints Props Week 1
I have two big value plays for week 1 in the New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta Falcons match-up as well as two sure money plays around even money.
Michael Thomas Over 49.5 Receiving Yards -115
Michael “Can’t Guard Mike” Thomas is back! After missing nearly two seasons, this man will be on a mission. After spending years as the best receiver in the league stats wise. I can not wrap my mind around why this total is so low for his first game back, against the Falcons at that. One of the worse defenses in the league.
I might be off, yet at -115 and only 50 yards, I will take this bet any game of the season. I am used to seeing Mike Thomas get 9-12 catches for 150+ yards. Which is exactly what I expect in the return of the beast. He will have a chip on his shoulder and be eager to retain the “best receiver in the league” moniker he deserves.
Chris Olave Over 3.5 Receptions -103
The rookie we have all been waiting to see. I expect him to get at least 6-7 targets. I see him catching 4-5 balls for around 60 yards. Mike Thomas, Jarvis Landry, and Alvin Kamara will have this defense occupied. Which means the rookie wide out should be able to take advantage of some one on one match-ups on the weak side.
Alvin Kamara to Score 2 or More Touchdowns +500
It is no secret Alvin Kamara is the engine that gets this offense flowing. He will be a vital part of this offense once it gets in the red zone. Watch for screens, quick pitches or even check down opportunities for Kamara to break a tackle or two and score from 15 yards out.
In open field, Alvin is one of the best at making defenders miss. Sometimes he is simply impossible to tackle. He has multi-touchdown games on a regular basis since joining the league and I fully expect him to score 2-3 touchdowns against an Atlanta defense that will have no answer for him in the open field.
Taysom Hill Anytime Touchdown +370
Taysom Hill might sound ridiculous, however hear me out. Hill is coming into his first season as a full time tight end. Not having to mentally be prepared to be a quarterback if an injury pops up. I see him getting more touches in the passing game this season and being more comfortable doing so.
He can score easily off of a tight end screen, or even running routes, he is excellent in yards after the catch. The x factor here though that made me take this bet is the wildcat formation inside the 5. Taysom Hill running the wildcat and bruising into the end zone like a full back has become a regular sighting in New Orleans. I see this being the way he gets this touchdown, and at +375 I will be ready for it.
