This season feels like it is flying by! Week 5 already? Yes! I am getting on a roll, finding my groove if you will, the rhythm of the season has a weird feel to it. However this week’s slate has some of the my favorite picks so far this season. Let’s dive into my college football picks and try to take advantage of these lines that the betting public will surely push our way as the week continues. I have seven picks for you this weekend.
The Red Beard: College Football Picks Week 5
Oklahoma -6.5 vs TCU
Oklahoma has been my favorite pick of the season it seems, I have bet their spread every weekend only losing once. This weekend I see a number that is off by a lot.
The Sooners are coming off of a loss to Kansas State, which to me means they will be even more motivated to not only win, yet also dominate this weekend. They are a top 5 team in my book and will look to prove that against a smaller school in the TCU Horned Frogs.
I look for Oklahoma’s defense to set the tone in this one and allow their offense to follow. Give me Oklahoma 44-17.
Oklahoma vs TCU Under 68.5
I would be shocked if this game went over at the number it is at. If you want this pick, jump on it right away, this number will be falling as sharp bettors put their bets in this week. I would expect to see a 65 come game day.
My number for the game is 61, so no need to stress getting the best number I do not think, however why not? Oklahoma’s defense will be locked in this weekend, as well as TCU’s, who take all BIG12 match-ups seriously.
Both team will have their pride on full effect Saturday, again give me Oklahoma winning 44-17, under hitting safely.
Virginia Tech vs North Carolina Over 51.5
At 51 and a hook this over is way too low for me to pass up on taking. Virginia Tech has been an average 2-2 team thus far averaging 18 points per game, however North Carolina defense gives up points for fun.
Add that to the fact North Carolina averages 46.5 points a game on their own. There is no way I am not taking this over at 51.5.
Give me a shoot out with the over hitting in the 3rd quarter, North Carolina winning 59-45.
Texas A&M vs Mississippi State Over 45.5
This is another case of me being way off, or the number being way low. I have this game getting into the mid to high 50’s. Both of these teams have been a part of my worse loses this season on the over.
Now Texas A&M is a defensive juggernaut this season so far, keeping most of their game totals in the 30’s. I thought the Miami game a few weeks ago was a golden ticket at the over around the same number. The total ended up being 26 points.
Like I said I might be way off again on this one, however I see Miss St. pushing the action and forcing Texas A&M to speed up and put points on the board if they want to keep up. First one to 30 wins a close one, 31-27 is my final prediction with the game going either way.
Indiana +5.5 vs Nebraska
There is no way on earth Nebraska wins this game, which means there is no way in the universe they win by a touchdown or more.
This number feels like it was made by a child who have just climbed out of a cave without any knowledge of what is going on this season. Indiana is 3-1 and has been bullying teams on their way to victory.
Where as Nebraska is 1-3 and has looked like a high school team on the field for much of this season. Give me Indiana winning big this weekend, 27-10.
The Red Beard: College Football Picks (Favorite Pick)
Georgia Tech +22 vs Pittsburgh
Georgia Tech ML vs Pittsburgh
Before I break this down, I want to clarify two things. This game was brought to my attention by my favorite handicapper, your favorite handicappers favorite handicapper Ken Barkley on his show “You Bettor You Bet” last night. Also, yes, I am taking both the money line and the spread on this game.
Georgia Tech has had one of the hardest schedules to this point of the season. As was pointed out to me Pittsburgh is 5-15 in situations specifically like this.
This is a spot where I agree with everything Ken has said about this game and will back it 100%. Georgia Tech wins in upset fashion 27-20.
