There are a number of games that look enticing to me coming into to week 3. I have my biggest slate yet of College football picks, with 9 games that I have already placed and another 3 or 4 I am looking at. This is The Red Beard: College Football picks, week 3. The Red Beard: College Football Picks Week 3:
Friday, 09/16/22
Florida State -2.5 vs Louisville
I love every thing about this game, from the over 57 to the Florida State spread. The latter will be the one I am taking this weekend. The one thing that is weird to me is the lack of movement on this line. I assumed it would balloon to -4 or -5 by now, however it has stayed steady at -2.5 all week.
Florida State looked like a top 5 team in the country in their first two games. Getting an impressive win on the road against LSU, then blowing out Duquesne like they should have.
The reason I am going to take the spread here instead of the over is simply because Florida State is a defensive powerhouse. I see them winning this game in a bullying fashion 38-10.
Air Force -14.5 vs Wyoming
Let’s face it Air Force is the most exciting team so far in college football betting circles. I bet them at -17 right before kick off last weekend just because of the hype around them.
This weekend is no different, I look to see this line move to around -16.5 before kickoff. I have my ticket placed early to lock in -14.5.
Wyoming has looked horrible against real competition this season, I look for that to continue as they go up against the hottest offense in the country (serious and joking at the same time). Give me Air Force winning 41-20.

Oklahoma -11 vs Nebraska
Oklahoma has looked impressive in all but 1 half of football this season. This offense moves fast, and are efficient. Their air it out play style should tire out Nebraska’s defense by the third quarter.
Nebraska just first their head coach Scott Frost earlier this week after an abysmal start to the season. Sometimes new coaches bring a different energy and everybody rallies around that. I do not see that happening this weekend.
The Sooners look like a top 5 team in the country with the like of Georgia and Alabama. If they come to play, they will win this game easily. Give me Oklahoma 45-17.
Tulane vs Kansas State Over 47
This is my no brainer of the week. Both sides of Tulane football has been putting up points on a regular basis through the first two games of the season. With both of them going over easily.
I have this number at around 54, so as soon as it opened at 47, I jumped all over it. Kansas State has put up around 40 points in their first two games.
This game will be a shoot-out, first one to 50 wins. Tulane wins in an upset, 51-48.
Alabama vs UL-Monroe Over 60.5
Alabama played one of the ugliest games against Texas last Saturday. On top of the disappointing performances, Nick Saban was furious with how his players acted postgame to the Longhorn fans.
Add that to the fact that Louisiana-Monroe is one of the smaller schools in college football. That is my nice way of saying “not good at all”.
Alabama will take out it’s frustrations against UL-Monroe, winning in dramatic fashion, 63-3.
Mississippi State vs LSU Over 52.5
This is my second no brainer of the Saturday slate. Mississippi State and LSU both have explosive “NFL like” offenses.
I am taking LSU money line as well as the over, yet I am doing that strictly out of fandom. LSU at home is a different animal, especially in their home opener.
This over however will cash in mid-way through the 3rd quarter. Both of these teams will put up points in bunches. It will come down to defense and turnovers as to who will win. LSU 48, Mississippi State 35.
Texas -11 vs UTSA
This line will definitely move by kick off, I will take it up to -16.5. Texas got a huge confidence boost playing the number 1 team in the country to the tune of a 1 score game.
The taste of that loss will be in these Longhorns mouth all week as they look forward to this UTSA game.
This game is the perfect opportunity for Texas to take out some frustrations on the football field. Texas wins and wins big 39-7.
Utah -21 vs San Diego State
Utah is coming off of a game where they won by 70 points. Wow! This might be an over reaction to that, however I also watched San Diego State lose at home to an Arizona team who were 1-24 the last two seasons.
This San Diego State team is as bas as this Utah team is good. I see domination Saturday night, Utah 63, San Diego State 20.
USC -13.5 vs Fresno State
This is a game I see being an automatic last bet of the day. USC is looking to prove that their powerhouse status is back.
They have had 2 great games already this season, I am ready to hop on the bandwagon. Being ranked 7th in the country does not mean much, usually. I expected this number to be in the -20’s or -30’s.
Yet I don’t see it changing anytime soon. Give me USC in blow-out fashion, 50-17.
