Week 2 of college football, finally the madness has died down a tad bit. Bettors have the almighty NFL to focus on, but first, Saturday. Let us dive into The Red Beard: College Football Picks.

The Red Beard: College Football Picks Week 2. (09/10/22)

    College Football Picks – Underdogs:

This week I have 2 overs to play as well as 2 underdogs, one I am taking the points and another I am taking straight up as a slight dog, betting against the “sharp bettors” as they call themselves.

    Houston +120 v Texas Tech

This game opened at even money on both sides and since has been bet to a Texas Tech -3. As much as I usually try and stay within the groove, this line movement makes zero sense to me.

Instead of betting the +3 which I advise, I am taking the chance Houston wins this game outright. I believe they are the better team on both sides. They have an organized offense that should not get frazzled in big moments down the stretch. On top of a sturdy defense that is hard to run on.

I know betting against the line movement can be deadly at times, downright suicidal. This early in the season I am betting on eager bettors moving lines early in waves as the technology age allows trends to be taken advantage of. Houston wins 35-34. (Again take the 3 points if you feel obliged)

    Arizona +11 v Mississippi State

This bet is my version of a trendy bet, Arizona looked good last weekend. At least good enough to me to put points on the board and stay in this game.

I expect Arizona to come out and take control of this game from the jump, forcing Mississippi State to play from behind. Also betting on a trend to stop which is the favorites the last two weeks being almost undefeated. I picked this game as one that will turn that trend around.

Arizona’s offense has the ability to not only keep pace but out score Mississippi State. Give me the points with a Wildcat team that is going to have an amazing story this season after going 1-24 the last two seasons. Arizona loses 38-34, covering easily.

    College Football Picks – Overs:

    Alabama v Texas Over 65

I originally took this over at 62, however with offenses this elite and quick, I do not see a problem with taking it at 65. In fact I would take it up to 66.5.

Both of these teams will end up putting 30+ points on the board and I would not be surprised if it ended up with both teams in the 40’s or even 50’s.

I am prepared with my popcorn, hanker-chief, and revolver for this old fashion 10 step shoot-out. Give me this Over hitting by the end of the third quarter and Alabama winning 52-48.

    Kentucky v Florida Over 52.5

The Florida over I took last week hit by a hook, in other words by the hair on my chinny chin chin. I am going to ride this explosive offense and the over every time it is listed under 57 this season.

So with out further explanation, besides Florida quarterback being a Heisman favorite and me expecting an SEC offense to put up points.

Give me this over at 52.5 up to 54. Florida wins 45-21.

Overview: The Red Beard: College Football Picks Week 2:

    • Houston +120 v Texas Tech
    • Arizona +11 v Mississippi State
    • Alabama v Texas Over 65
    • Kentucky v Florida Over 52.5

(The Red Beard is 2-7 this season so far in NCAAF betting)
