The Green Bay Packers decided to address the wide receiver position in the 2025 NFL Draft. Green Bay drafted Matthew Golden from the Texas Longhorns in the first round and Savion Williams from the TCU Horned Frogs in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
With the Packers drafting both wide receivers, there is a chance that both wide receivers could make impacts as a rookie. However, there are many questions with Green Bay’s wide receiver before the 2025 NFL season begins. They for now don’t have a true number one wide out for quarterback Jordan Love to rely upon. No wide receiver on this team went over 1,000 yards receiving for the last two seasons.

One of the biggest questions for the Packers before the 2025 NFL season will be, who Love rely upon when the game is on the line? There have been a lot of quality number two wide receivers on the roster, but no true number one wide receiver. Rob Demovsky, a writer for espn.com who covers the Packers, said about the wide receiver position,
“Maybe the Packers don’t have a true No. 1 receiver — with Christian Watson out to start the season while still recovering from right ACL surgery — but there’s still a pecking order to be determined. Green Bay’s 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden might have thrust himself near the top of that list right away.
Those who think it’s hard for a rookie receiver to make an immediate impact should watch how smoothly Golden has fit in so far in camp. That said, the likes of Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs and even tight end Tucker Kraft can also vie for quarterback Jordan Love‘s attention.”
Watson will not be back until at the earliest in the middle of the 2025 NFL season. For now, the projected starting wide receiver core will be Golden, Doubs, and Reed. Dontayvion Wicks and Williams will be fourth and fifth on the Packers roster. There is a chance that Green Bay could trade Wicks or Doubs elsewhere before the 2025 NFL season begins.
The two targets that Love will most likely be relying on in 2025 will be Golden and possibly Kraft as well. Kraft in all truth, might be the best receiving option on the Packers as the 2025 NFL season begins.
