‘The NFL is Trash’ — Fans Rip NFL for Standing by Jay-Z and Roc Nation as Epstein Files Spark New Controversy

The NFL has spent the last decade trying to repackage itself as more than just football. From music partnerships to culture-forward halftime shows, the league has leaned hard into entertainment as its second identity. That strategy brought global attention, but it also invited scrutiny. Scrutiny has been relentless lately.

With the Super Bowl inching closer and public trust is already fragile. The league now finds itself dragged into a controversy it didn’t create but didn’t avoid either. Fans are no longer separating business and football as new federal documents resurface old names.

The NFL’s long-running partnership with Roc Nation is back in the spotlight after Jay-Z’s name appeared in newly released Epstein-related documents, triggering a fresh wave of online backlash. The documents, released by the U.S. Department of Justice on January 31, 2026, include unverified FBI hotline intake reports from 2019. The reports mention Jay-Z, Pusha T, and Harvey Weinsteinbut do not allege charges or confirm investigations.

The references stem from raw crisis intake complaints logged by the FBI, not from Epstein’s flight logs, verified evidence, or formal findings. Legal experts quoted by the Sunday Guardian Live stressed that hotline tips are not proof of wrongdoing and often contain uncorroborated claims.

The optics have reignited debate over the NFL’s decision to continue working with Roc Nation after past allegations involving the 56-year-old music mogul surfaced.

The timing couldn’t be worse. Fans were already upset over the league’s entertainment choices, including Bad Bunny headlining Super Bowl LX, and the Epstein document release poured fuel on a fire that never fully went out.

One viral reaction captured the mood bluntly.

A user wrote, “The NFL is trash 🗑️,” in a post shared on X.

Others followed with calls for direct action. One fan commented, “It’s as simple as Just don’t watch the superbowl”

Another wrote simply, “boycott nfl.”

The criticism went beyond ratings. A different user added, “The @NFL is corrupt. Professional football has declined, controlled mostly by top criminals.”

Others focused on leverage. One post read, “Don’t watch the game. It’s not that tough. Let the ratings show them.”

Reporting from The Sunday Guardian and Times of India confirms that Jay-Z is neither accused nor charged in connection with Epstein. His name appears only in unverified intake narratives, rather than substantiated evidence. Perception plays a significant role. The NFL is discovering that mere association can incite outrage.

The league hasn’t commented on the renewed backlash. But fans have already made their verdict loud and clear.
