The New York Giants are 2-8 this season and are getting ready to prepare for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the bye week. Giants head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen met with the media last week and answered some questions about quarterback Daniel Jones’s future.
The roster’s backups are Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock. The New York Giants’ offense is among the worst-ranked in the NFL this season.
New York Giants Are Starting Tommy DeVito Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
According to sources who talked to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Giants are benching Daniel Jones in favor of Tommy DeVito. Interestingly, Drew Lock will not get the start. He has been this team’s backup quarterback all season long.
With New York benching Jones, the Giants are protecting themselves for the 2025 season with the injury guarantee. It will be interesting to see how well DeVito plays in the Giants’ final games of the season. He won a few games for the Giants last season as a starting quarterback when Tyrod Taylor and Daniel Jones were both injured.

Some would think they’re being smart and tanking for Sanders but let’s face it, they’re going Carson Beck because that’s the kind of GM they have.

One of the interesting things about DeVito’s starting is that this will give the Giants fanbase some life in a lost season. Some fans will want the team to lose every game for the rest of the season to get one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. With Tommy DeVito starting and Daniel Jones being benched, this signals the end of an error for the Giants organization.
