The five most intriguing games on the Bears schedule. Obviously this is subject to change depending on how the season goes. As of right now however these five stand out for different reasons. In case this season is a disaster, these games give you something to look forward too.
Washington Commanders: Week 6
Am I the only person that hates calling them the Commanders? Washington roles into Chicago on a Thursday night on October 13th. Thursday night games are notorious for being bizarre because players are out of their normal routine with the short week. Old friend Charles leno Jr will be protecting Carson Wentz’s blind side. Look for Robert Quinn to have a big night if he’s still with the team.
Buffalo Bills: Week 15
Buffalo is predicted by many to have the best record in the league this year. This would be right around the time they would be clinching something. Josh Allen is always fun to watch. Add the fact it’s a Saturday afternoon game on the 24th of December (Christmas Eve) and it makes for a fun day. If this one gets out of hand you can just turn on National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. I’m sure it will be on 25 channels. I predict snow for this game.
Green Bay Packers: Week 2
Even though the Bears seemingly play Sunday night at Lambeau every season, it’s always intriguing. This year it’s a week 2 game on September 18th. Equanimeous St. Brown and Luke Getsy make their return to Green Bay. Hopefully they can help spoil the Packers opening night. It’s always nice playing the Packers when it actually means something.
New England Patriots: Week 7
The Bears head to Foxborough. for an October 24th Monday night matchup with the Pats. The evil genius Bill Belichick has the Patriots playing well again. This will be a tough one for the Bears. However the Bears will be coming off a Thursday night game against the Commanders which means they will be on 11 days rest. That’s almost like having a second bye week. Don’t ever underestimate the power of extra rest. It is also the return of N’Keal Harry to New England. I’m sure he would love to have a big game against the team that traded him.
Houston Texans: Week 3
Lovie Smith steps back into Soldier Field for a Sunday noon game on September 25th, looking like father time, with his salt and pepper beard. I was always a big Lovie fan, and I thought the Bears did him wrong firing him after a 10 win season. The Bears have pretty much been a wreck since. As nice of a guy Lovie is you know how bad he wants this one. There are no Bears on the current roster that played under Smith. That won’t take away the emotions. I expect Lovie to shed a tear or two during the national anthem. With Davis Mills at quarterback for the Texans, I like the Bears in this game a lot. I think it will be a bitter return for Lovie Smith. I just hope the fans don’t boo him.
