The Ohio State Buckeyes are off to a great start in their pursuit of potentially going back-to-back in the college football world. Ohio State knocked off the Texas Longhorns at home in Week 1.

Because of the Buckeyes winning the game, they were able to jump from number three in the nation to the number one team in the nation. They leap frogged the Penn State Nittany Lions in the AP Top 25. There was also a case for Penn State to be the number one team in the nation, but Ohio State remains the top dog in the standings for now.
Fox Sports Analyst Believes That the Ohio State Buckeyes Have a Great Chance To Go Back-To-Back

Michael Cohen of foxsports.com ranked his BIG10 teams in order. Well, to no surprise, he had Ohio State ranked number one, but Cohen believes that this team can achieve great heights once again during the 2025 college football season. He said,
“No team in college football scored a more impressive victory than Ohio State, the defending national champions, who toppled No. 1 Texas following an offseason in which both coordinators departed and a school-record 14 players were selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, including starting quarterback Will Howard.
His replacement, true sophomore Julian Sayin, a former five-star recruit and transfer from Alabama, became the first quarterback to beat the nation’s top-ranked team in his first career start since former Michigan standout Jim Harbaugh knocked off No. 1 Miami on Sept. 8, 1984. A modest stat line for Sayin — he completed 13 of 20 passes for 126 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions — reflected the relatively conservative game plan designed by head coach Ryan Day and new playcaller Brian Hartline, who were content to let the Buckeyes’ defense do most of the heavy lifting.
It was a dream debut for new defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, the former head coach of the Detroit Lions and longtime defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots, as his complex blend of coverages frustrated Texas quarterback Arch Manning and limited the Longhorns to just 336 yards of total offense and a 35.7% conversion rate on third down. The Buckeyes’ pursuit of back-to-back national titles is off and running.”
Well, there is a chance that Ohio State may not lose until they face Penn State in the first weekend of November. The Buckeyes team was an inexperienced team that took the field against the Longhorns, but they played well enough to win the game and still have a long way to go. Head coach Ryan Day understands that this team has much more room to grow.
This team had a lot of players get drafted into the NFL last year. Ohio State once again has one of the most talented teams in the country. Don’t bet against the Buckeyes for now, until they face the Michigan Wolverines the last game of the regular season.
