Jets’ receiver Denzel Mims has requested a trade from the Jets, and the Cleveland Browns should be interested in him.
#Jets WR Denzel Mims has requested a trade (or release) from the team. Former second-round pick out of Baylor would like a fresh start.

Mims hasn’t done too much in his two-year career, with him only having 490 yards on 31 receptions with no touchdowns, but the Browns need him. The Browns don’t have a lot of talent at the wide receiver position, so he can be a good piece of the Browns’ offense. Cleveland lost Jakeem Grant for the year during training camp, making Mims another option for them.
Will Denzel Mims Get an Opportunity With the Browns?
If Mims were to be traded to the Browns, he would definitely be seeing the field quite a bit. He’ll be competing for snaps against players like Amari Cooper, David Bell, and Donovan Peoples-Jones, but he should be on the field pretty often. He’ll be getting an opportunity, and that’s exactly what Mims and his agent, Ron Slavin, want.
“It’s just time. Denzel has tried in good faith, but it is clear he does not have a future with the Jets. Denzel vowed to come back better than ever this season and he worked extremely hard in the offseason to make that happen. Still, he has been given very few opportunities to work with the starting offense and get into a groove with them. We feel at this point a trade is our only option since the Jets have repeatedly told us they will not be releasing him. Joe Douglas has always done right by Denzel and we trust that he will make every effort to find him a new home where he can be a contributor.”
Jets’ coach Robert Saleh doesn’t even blame Mims for wanting to leave.
“When you have a guys like Corey [Davis] and Elijah [Moore] and you draft Garrett Wilson, those guys are just going to get first dibs. It’s not a knock on Mims. He’s part of a really good room. That’s why I think you see the frustration.”
The Browns definitely need Denzel Mims’ help. So, we’ll just have to see if Cleveland goes for him.
