Should they build around quarterback Shedeur Sanders or draft another quarterback this offseason? If they can’t draft a quarterback for some reason, then they are going to need to address other positions. The wide receiver position could potentially be a major need for the Browns this offseason. One name that they could potentially draft this offseason is Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Carnell Tate. Cleveland could also be making changes within the coaching staff and the front office as well.

Mark Schoefield of SBNation.com created his latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft. He has the Browns selecting fourth overall. Schoefield has Cleveland taking Tate from Ohio State. He said about this franchise taking the Buckeyes wide receiver potentially,

“You might describe this as making the best of a tricky situation.

Barring Shedeur Sanders taking a massive step forward over the final three weeks, the Browns are going to address quarterback again this offseason. One problem? They might be picking fourth in a two-QB first round, meaning they either overpay in a trade or, go in a different direction in the first round.

Adding an Ohio State wide receiver to help whoever is taking the snaps is not a bad consolation prize.”

He is 6’3″ and weighs 195 lbs. Tate has caught 48 passes for 838 yards receiving and nine touchdowns, along with averaging 17.5 yards per reception. He would no doubt become the top wide receiver in the Browns receiving room right away. Ohio State wide receivers have been very successful in the NFL. Cleveland having him as the number one wide receiver would be huge because Jerry Jeudy would then become the number two wide receiver.
