“The Biggest Story In the League”: NFL Analyst Wonders If Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Hangover Will Be Real As NFL Season Begins Soon

The Kansas City Chiefs were on the verge of doing something that has never been done in the NFL history before and that was potentially three-peating. However, the Chiefs were demolished in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles.

With Kansas City losing, there will be plenty of questions about them in 2025. Over the last six seasons, the Chiefs have won three Super Bowl titles and have two titles. Kansas City has been in seven straight AFC title games as well and the only teams to beat them were Tom Brady and the New England Patriots and also Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. Is there a chance that the Chiefs dynasty is potentially over once the 2025 season begins, or it is crazy talk?

One NFL Analyst Believes That the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Hangover Could Be a Real Thing During the 2025 NFL Season

Kansas City finished with a 15-2 record during the 2024 regular season, and they won all games that were decided by one possession. There is a chance that the Chiefs may not win all of those one possession games during the 2025 NFL season. A lot of teams are closing the gap on Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and company.

This could potentially be the first year in quite some time that the Chiefs are in potential danger of not winning the AFC West. The last team to win the AFC West not named Kansas City was the Denver Broncos during the 2015 season, where they had the best defense in the NFL and won the Super Bowl when they had quarterback Peyton Manning around.

Frank Schwab of Yahoo Sports created a summary of his power rankings entering the 2025 NFL season. He thinks a potential Chiefs Super Bowl hangover is something to watch out for during the 2025 season. Schwab said,

“The Chiefs — whose worst finish in the seven seasons since Mahomes took over as starting quarterback has been a pair of overtime losses in the AFC championship game — will be contenders again but they have company. The Eagles are loaded again. The Bills and Ravens want to break through in the AFC, and the Lions will try in the NFC. Other teams want to break through with a long playoff run, like the Commanders unexpectedly did last season.

Everyone is vying for Super Bowl LX as the season starts. Even though the Eagles had an emphatic win in last season’s Super Bowl, the biggest story in the league is still if the Chiefs’ dynasty is still going strong despite a high-profile setback.”

Well, Kansas City opens the season in Week 1 in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers. If the Chargers win against the Chiefs, the talks about a Super Bowl hangover will get loud right away. With the Chargers and Broncos expected to be good as well, the Las Vegas Raiders won’t be an easy win as well during the 2025 NFL season. The Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens will be the two most likely choices to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl if it is not the Chiefs.
