There are not many positives from a Week One loss to a team that was expected to beat you by double digits and did exactly that. The game wasn’t close early on and continued to be that way for most of the game. Lamar Jackson did whatever he wanted passing the football and Jets almost did nothing about it. However, there are positives performances that Jets fans can be proud of this week and these are the players/units that are deserving of praise for their performances against the Ravens despite losing the game.
QB Joe Flacco
The ageless veteran QB Joe Flacco did exactly what he was supposed to today as a QB playing in place for Zach Wilson to return. He managed the game well until it got out of hand, didn’t make too many mistakes, only got sacked three times by the Ravens defense, and the Jets held the ball longer than the Ravens. This is a win for the Jets considering how lopsided the game was late in the second half. He also spread the ball around with seven different receivers having at least one catch. Flacco threw his touchdown pass to Tyler Conklin with a minute left in the game but he played good given the circumstances his team was in before the season started.
The Front Seven
The defensive line combined for 2 sacks on Lamar Jackson, which is one of the hardest tasks in the NFL. The run defense did their job, holding the Ravens to 3 yards per carry on 21 carries and they managed to make the Ravens uncomfortable going to their main source of generating offense, which is running the ball. Although the Jets pass defense played poorly, the run defense has a lot to be encouraged about as they head further into the season,
