After a lot of changes in the 2022 NFL season, divisions are starting to take shape heading into August. Which is the best division in the NFL?
The Las Vegas Raiders acquired Star WR Davonte Adams from the Green Bay Packers. The deal is for five years and is worth $141.25 million. Star WR Tyreek Hill was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins. His deal is worth $120 million over a four year period. The Chiefs gained five draft picks in the blockbuster trade. Kansas City also picked up WR JuJu Smith-Schuster as a free agent. The Los Angeles Chargers didn’t make a splash trade of any type during the offseason, but they are bringing back a solid team that can make a SB run next year.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be moving on from veteran QB Ben Roethlisberger and have options at the QB position with Mitchell Trubisky and Kenny Pickett. The Cleveland Browns recently traded away Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a late 2024 draft pick. Cleveland has made it clear that Watson is their guy at QB. Regardless of if he is suspended or not. Cincinnati is bringing back most of a team that made it to the super bowl last season. With young QB Joe Burrow, it seems as if there’s no ceiling for this team. Lastly, the Baltimore Ravens had was was perhaps the best draft in the whole NFL. Many experts have Baltimore ranked in their top spot for their impressive 2022 NFL draft.
Which is the best division in football:
I think it’s fair to say the AFC West and AFC North have the most talent of all divisions in the NFL. Of the eight QBs, seven have made the Pro Bowl at some point in their career…
- Russel Wilson (Broncos) – 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021
- Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) – 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022
- Derek Carr (Raiders) – 2015, 2016, 2017
- Justin Herbert (Chargers) – 2022
- Lamar Jackson (Ravens) – 2019, 2022
- Deshaun Watson (Browns) – 2018, 2019, 2020
- Mitchell Trubisky (Steelers) – 2019
All these QBs have a combined 23 pro bowls made which is impressive to say the least.
The AFC West currently has three teams was an over/under win total of higher than ten…
- Chargers (10.5)
- Broncos (10.5)
- Chiefs (10.5)
- Raiders (8.5)
- Combined, the AFC West is projected to have a total of 40 wins.
The AFC North has only 3 teams on the board for over/under win projections largely because the status of QB Deshaun Watson is unknown…
- Steelers (7.5)
- Ravens (9.5)
- Bengals (9.5)
- Browns (off of the board)
On paper, I would give the edge to the AFC West for best division in the NFL. Regardless, its going to be an exciting 2022 NFL season!
