There are 18 contenders for the Heisman Trophy & 14 of those contenders are quarterbacks. And as expected the number first and second spot is a back-and-forth battle between 2 of college’s top quarterbacks! The #2 spot is held by Alabama’s standout Bryce Young who won the Heisman Trophy in the year 2021. Young passed for 4,872 yards, 47 TDs, and 7 interceptions. With those impressive stats, Bryce no doubt helped lead Alabama back to the championship game. However, as good as Bryce Young and his stats were last year you may think he would start the year 2022 off as the heavily favored. He most definitely will pick up where he left off. Surely he will have another successful year. But he is no longer the heavily favored!

Analyzing the Odds
I’m sure no college football fans expected last year’s #4 spot to knock off last year’s #1 spot Bryce Young. This year #2 spot holder, OMG, who could this be, emerging from the Buckeye cloud? It’s none other than the 2022 #1 C.J. Stroud. Stroud passed for 4,435 yds, 44 TDs, & 6 interceptions last year. I personally am impressed with Stroud’s stats, but not shocked the young man can go and he proved that in last year’s championship game. C.J. showed good leadership, composure under pressure, and good decision-making.
I must admit that I still think that Bryce Young can possibly win the Heisman Trophy again this year, especially with another Nationals Bowl Victory. In fact, I believe the only reason Stroud is now the new #1 favorite is simply that he came out victorious in his bowl game & Young lost his bowl game.
However, they are both great quarterbacks and capable to take over the #1 spot. Either one could win the Heisman at any time because they are both that good. I know the NFL can’t wait for these two Incredible quarterbacks to enter the draft! It is very obvious that quarterbacks are a big item in college football and are becoming an even bigger item and demand in the NFL. Thanks a lot Brady!
