Texas has had one of the weirdest seasons of any SEC team in a while, and heading into the second last week of the regular season, they still don’t have an impressive win.
Even though the Longhorns have not had a great victory, they still rank third in the college football playoff poll, and they are one loss away from possibly being eliminated from the entire thing.
Texas Could Lose Their Playoff Spot
Earlier this season, Texas went to Michigan and beat a Wolverines team that had just won the national championship. However, as the season continued, Michigan turned out to be bad, and the win that once looked impressive is now gone.
The Longhorns had a chance to pull off a major SEC win over a month ago when they hosted Georgia but couldn’t get it done, and now, in two weeks, they will head to play their old rival Texas A&M that could knock them out of the playoffs.
If Texas loses to the Aggies, they would be 10-2, with no SEC title game appearance and no significant win in the conference.
There is no way the college football committee could let Texas in the playoffs at that point, and Josh Pate, who hosts the Josh Pate College Football Shows, Stated,” Texas 100% should be out if they lose next week.”

Pate is totally right here, and how could the committee let a Texas team that played one of the easiest SEC schedules leave out a team like Ole Miss, which has a win over Georgia, or Tennessee, which has a victory over Alabama?

If the Longhorns want to make the playoffs, they must beat Texas A&M in two weeks and should get in regardless.
