The #1 Texas Longhorns will face the UL-Monroe Warhawks on Saturday. This will be the last non-conference game for Texas before the start of SEC Conference play the following week.
One of the biggest storylines for the Longhorns over the last week has been about the emergence of quarterback Arch Manning. With Quinn Ewers injured, Manning will be the starter for now for Texas.
UL-Monroe Defensive Coordinator Makes Stunning Statement About Texas Longhorns Quarterback Arch Manning
The UL-Monroe Warhawks are trying to build themselves up to try and beat the top team in the country on the road this weekend. They may want to be careful about what they say so they don’t try and poke the bear. UL-Monroe defensive coordinator Earnest Hill spoke to the media on Wednesday and talked about facing Manning and the Longhorns. He said:
“We have some kids on our team who played against him in New Orleans [in high school], and a couple of guys done beat him already. So, they don’t hold too much fear against him. They’re not gonna hold any fear against him coming up here [on Saturday].”
This is going to be some bulletin board material for Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns. When Manning came in relief for Quinn Ewers on Saturday against the UTSA Roadrunners, Manning had a 67-yard touchdown run. He also completed 75.0% of his passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns.
He may have the same output on Saturday against the UL-Monroe Warhawks. Manning wants to get himself warmed up for SEC Conference play the following week.
Fans React
The fans had some funny reactions on Twitter when they saw the UL-Monroe defensive coordinator opening up his mouth about this game. This is what they said:

Giving Texas bulletin board material for Manning’s first start is not smart

The fans are right. UL-Monroe is setting themselves up to get blown out and embarrassed by Arch Manning and the Longhorns on the road this weekend. There is a reason why Texas is favored heavily this weekend at home against UL-Monroe.
