The Texas Longhorns are the second-ranked team in the nation. The Georgia Bulldogs are the number-one team in the country. Some feel like Texas and Georgia could meet in the SEC Conference Championship Game this season.
This is the first season that the Texas Longhorns are in the SEC Conference. As for the Georgia Bulldogs, they won back-to-back titles before missing the college football playoffs last season. Both of these programs could very well win a title this season.
College Football Analyst Greg McElroy Believes That the Texas Longhorns Are Now An Elite College Football Program Along With the Georgia Bulldogs
Greg McElroy played for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide many years ago. McElroy knows what a successful college football program looks like. McElroy of ESPN made an interesting take about the Texas Longhorns football program this week. Greg McElroy said on a podcast:
“Texas has officially joined Georgia as one of the most complete teams in the sport. They look like a complete team, fast, physical, well coached, excellent in situations that would kind of showcase just how well coached they are. Poised, physical, I mean, you name it. If there is a positive attribute to apply to a team from this past weekend, Texas should likely get it.”
The Texas Longhorns went onto the road last week and defeated the Michigan Wolverines 31-12. They will look to keep it up at home this week against the UTSA Roadrunners. This is what McElroy also added:
“Texas, put forth a complete performance — and that was a terrible matchup for Michigan, no doubt about it. But if you think this Texas team can’t win the whole thing, I think you’re crazy. That was so impressive to see what we saw from them on the road on Saturday.”
Meeting On Saturday, October 19
The Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs will meet each other on Saturday, October 19. This is the college football game that everyone could be looking forward to. There is no doubt that both teams could be undefeated by the time this matchup rolls around.
This game could also mean a potential path toward a first-round bye in the college football playoff. It will be the game where it could also decide the Heisman Trophy race between quarterback Quinn Ewers and quarterback Carson Beck.
