The #3 Texas Longhorns are looking to a Week 2 battle with the #10 Michigan Wolverines on the road. The game will kick off at NOON ET on FOX. This is a huge game for Texas and quarterback Quinn Ewers.
Ewers completed 74.0% of his passes for 260 yards passing, three touchdowns, and one interception in a 52-0 win over the Colorado State Rams last week. He is looking forward to the next challenge against the Michigan Wolverines.
Texas Longhorns Quarterback Quinn Ewers Makes Announcement Ahead Of Game With the Michigan Wolverines
In the past, Ewers has referred to the Wolverines as “The Team Up North.” However, Eric Nahlin of on3.com talked to the former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback ahead of the matchup this week against Michigan. This is what Ewers told Nahlin about playing at the Big House in Michigan:
“I mean, I didn’t play [media roars with laughter]. It’s going to be a good atmosphere. A bunch of the guys went to Bama last year and kind of know that. I’ve been in a hard stadium in that aspect. If we can play our game I think we’ll be good.”
Quinn Ewers was with the Ohio State Buckeyes for a season in 2021 until he transferred to the Texas Longhorns. Had he stayed with Ohio State, he would have been the starting quarterback at some point and played at Michigan anyway.
Wide Receivers
Ryan Wingo and Isaiah Bond were the top two receivers for the Longhorns last week. Wingo caught four passes for 70 yards receiving and averaged 17.5 yards per catch. He didn’t have a receiving touchdown.
Bond caught five passes for 61 yards receiving and one touchdown, along with averaging 12.2 yards per catch. He has a chance to be one of the Longhorns wide receivers taken in the 2024 NFL Draft. Quinn Ewers also added to on3.com about paying attention to the wide receivers who are in the game by saying:
“Yeah, for sure. I think you definitely have to know who’s in the game but at the same time I think they do a great job of following what the install says and not changing things up too much and being in the right place at the right time.”
The Longhorns facing the Michigan Wolverines defense will not be an easy task by any means. If Ewers pulls off the big win on the road on Saturday afternoon, it will feel good for him and the rest of the Longhorns team. It will also make Ohio State Buckeyes fans very happy also.
