The #3 Texas Longhorns will face the #10 Michigan Wolverines on the road at NOON ET on the road on FOX. Going into Ann Arbor, Michigan will not be easy for Texas. Quarterback Quinn Ewers knows a thing or two about heading to Michigan.
He was one of the quarterbacks for the Ohio State Buckeyes when they lost the game at Michigan a few years ago. Ewers had a very good showing last week against the Colorado State Rams. He will need to play well once again in this game in a hostile environment.
Pro Football Focus Has Questions About the Texas Longhorns and Quinn Ewers
Pro Football Focus’s Max Chadwick and Dalton Wasserman made predictions for the Texas and Michigan game on Saturday afternoon. They both had questions for each team when they have the football. When the Longhorns are on offense, the question for them will be can Quinn Ewers deliver once again in a hostile environment against an elite defense?
A season ago, Texas defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide on the road early in the season. That win helped them get into the college football playoff last season. Pro Football Focus said about Ewers entering Saturday’s matchup:
“While certainly not perfect, Quinn Ewers always seems to deliver when the lights are brightest. When he made his second career start against Alabama in 2022, he posted a 90.2 PFF overall grade with three big-time throws in the first quarter before being knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury. He was just as good the following year against the Crimson Tide, earning a 90.6 PFF passing grade with three big-time throws and no turnover-worthy plays in the Longhorns’ upset victory in Tuscaloosa. Alabama fielded a top-10 graded defense in the nation in each of the past two seasons.
Ewers will need to be similarly brilliant to overcome this Michigan defense, which might be the most loaded unit in the country. Six Wolverine defenders made the top 10 of our preseason position rankings, while defensive tackle Mason Graham and cornerback Will Johnson are currently the top two prospects on PFF’s 2025 NFL Draft big board.”
The Michigan Wolverines defense will be tough to face. Michigan’s defensive coordinator is Wink Martindale, who loves to blitz. How often will the Wolverines blitz against Quinn Ewers on Saturday? Ewers will need to come through for Michigan. This is the biggest game of the regular season for both teams.
PFF Predicts Texas Will Come Out On Top
The Longhorns are favored by -7 points on the road against Michigan. Both Max Chadwick and Dalton Wasserman think that Texas will win the game. Max thinks that the Longhorns will win 24-17. Dalton thinks Texas will win 24-16.
Max Chadwick said about the Longhorns:
“Michigan struggles to find its identity as an offense, and Ewers delivers just enough for the Longhorns to pull out a massive road win.”
Even though Michigan beat Fresno State 30-10 last week, their offense struggled. The Wolverines offense will struggle. The Longhorns offense is better and Quinn Ewers is the better quarterback in this football game over Alex Orji.
