As previously mentioned on Gridiron Heroics, the Texas Longhorns elite left tackle and future first-round pick Kelvin Banks Jr. was a game-time decision for their SEC Championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs. Banks exited early last week against the Texas A&M Aggies with an ankle injury. He would work out during pre-game warmups to ultimately decide his availability for today’s afternoon game.

The Texas Longhorns LT warmed up pre-game
According to Bob Ballou of CBS Austin, Kelvin Banks Jr.’s workout didn’t last long. After testing out his ankle, he warmed up during pre-game warmups in street clothes. Banks felt discomfort in his ankle and later went back to the locker room, a possible indication that he might not play.
I’m not a doctor so I’m just telling you what I’m observing.
Didn’t look ideal for Kelvin Banks in this warmup. He was out here for a very short time trying to test his left ankle. He shook his head a couple times and was moving gingerly before heading back to the locker room.… pic.twitter.com/VVngfS2wv4

His official game status has been revealed
According to CJ Vogel of On Texas Football, Kelvin Banks Jr. will not play against the Georgia Bulldogs. Therefore, redshirt freshman, three-star recruit from 2023, Trevor Goosby, who filled in for the remainder of their game against the Texas A&M Aggies, will start at left tackle, the first of his career against a stout Bulldogs front.
