The Texas Longhorns are 7-1 this season in college football and they are the fifth-ranked team in the country. Texas will look to avoid the upset this weekend at home against the Florida Gators. The Longhorns have a lot of talent on the roster on both sides of the football.

One of the players who has not played as much as he would like is wide receiver Johntay Cook. This season, he has only caught eight passes for 137 yards receiving and two touchdowns, along with averaging 17.1 yards per catch.
Texas Longhorns Wide Receiver Johntay Cook Is No Longer With the Football Program

According to Inside Texas on Twitter, they reported on Thursday that Longhorns wide receiver Johntay Cook is no longer with the program. This is very interesting because he is very talented, but it seems like it did not work out for both parties.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian had other wide receivers getting play time like Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, Ryan Wingo, and DeAndre Moore Jr. The leading receiver of the four has been Bond with 23 receptions for 380 yards receiving and four touchdowns, along with averaging 16.5 yards per reception.
This season tight end Gunnar Helm is the leading receiver with 31 receptions for 419 yards receiving and two touchdowns, along with averaging 13.5 yards per catch. It will be interesting to see how Cook leaving the program will affect the team for the rest of the season.

It is crazy talk to think that head coach Steve Sarkisian has lost the locker room. He is trying to build something special with the Longhorns. He is in his fourth season with the program, but it will be interesting to see where wide receiver Cook will continue his college football career after leaving the Longhorns.
