Texas Longhorns: Fans Explode About Being Massive Favorites Ahead Of the Oklahoma Sooners Matchup

The Texas Longhorns are the second-ranked team in the country and the Oklahoma Sooners are the 19th-ranked team in the country entering the sixth week of the college football season. Texas and Oklahoma will both be on a bye this week, before they will face each other on October 12.

There is no love lost between these two archrivals in the SEC Conference. Texas and Oklahoma both played in the Big 12 last season, with the Sooners handing the Longhorns their only loss during the regular season a season ago.

On paper, the Longhorns are a much better football team than the Sooners. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Texas is favored by -14.5 points over Oklahoma. This is the largest spread between these two teams since the 2005 season at -14. During that season, the Longhorns won the National Title. The Texas Longhorns are 5-0 overall on the year and are 1-0 in SEC Conference play. As for the Oklahoma Sooners, they are 4-1 overall on the year and they are 1-1 in SEC Conference play.

It feels as if the Texas Longhorns are national title contenders compared to the Oklahoma Sooners. When Texas comes off the bye, it will be interesting to see if Arch Manning or Quinn Ewers will be the starting quarterback for head coach Steve Sarkisian.

This is a game that the Longhorns should win, but the Sooners always are ready to play for this kind of game. Some people are surprised that Texas is a massive favorite against Oklahoma. It goes to show how much of a talent gap the Longhorns have compared to the Sooners this season.
