The Texas Longhorns were ranked the second-best team in the nation last week. With the Alabama Crimson Tide losing to the Vanderbilt Commodores 40-35 on the road on Saturday afternoon, the Longhorns moved up to the number one ranking in the AP Poll once again ahead of the matchup on the road against the Oklahoma Sooners.
Texas did not play this week. They were able to watch all of the chaos unfold like the rest of the college football world.
Texas Longhorns Fans Celebrate Being Ranked #1 Once Again
The Texas Longhorns celebrate being ranked number one in the country once again. This is the third time this season that they are already ranked at the top. Here is what Texas fans said on Twitter after this was announced:

If Texas is ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll later today, it will be the first time since 1984 that the Longhorns will enter the Red River Shootout as the top-ranked team in the nation.
That team played No. 2 OU to a 15-15 tie.

It wasn’t going to be long until the Texas Longhorns were ranked number one again in the nation, but no one expected it to come like this with Vanderbilt beating Alabama. This is the Longhorns’ first season in the SEC Conference.
Texas and Texas A & M Play Each Other Last Week Of the Regular Season
The Texas A&M Aggies will face the Texas Longhorns during the last week of the regular season. A&M is ranked 15th in the country entering this week and has a 5-1 overall record and a 3-0 SEC Conference record. Imagine if that game potentially decides first place in the SEC Conference before the SEC Championship Game.
The Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies had an old rivalry back in the day in the BIG12. Before Texas can worry about that, head coach Steve Sarkisian and his players will have to worry about the Oklahoma Sooners.
