With their loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Texas Longhorns will officially transition into the Arch Manning era. After serving as the third-string quarterback and appearing in only two games in 2023, while also serving as the backup and appearing in ten games and starting two in 2024, Manning is set to lead the team in 2025. The Longhorns are expected to be one of the top teams in college football next year and an early favorite to win the National Championship, but their offensive line will look totally different.
The Texas Longhorns junior tackle had a solid inaugural season as a starter
After sitting behind current Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle Christian Jones in his first two seasons, Cameron Williams took over as the starting right tackle in his junior season. Williams had a decent inaugural season as the starter, allowing 26 pressures, 18 hurries, three hits, and five sacks. He also posted a 72.6 pass blocking, a 70.8 run blocking, and a 67.4 overall PFF grade in 15 starts.
Since the Longhorns were eliminated from the College Football Playoff last week, underclassmen like their talented right tackle have until tomorrow, Wednesday, January 15, to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Longhorns star junior offensive lineman reveals his plans for 2025
According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, Cameron Williams announced he will forego his final year of college eligibility and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. Field Yates has Williams listed as the 28th-best prospect, while Matt Miller has him listed as the 3rd-best offensive tackle in this year’s draft. As Thamel points out, the star right tackle is considered a prototypical tackle with a 6-foot-5 frame and weighing in at 335 pounds.
