Texas High School Football:
High school football is a very celebrated pastime nationwide; however, as all things are, it happens to be a little bigger in Texas. I am beginning a weekly thread of my favorite high school game of the week. In doing so why not start with one of the more famous Texas high school football programs.
Game of the Week:
My game of the week in Texas High School Football this week is Harker Heights vs. Odessa Permian. The 3-0 Knights of Harker Heights will travel to Odessa to play the 3-0 Panthers, otherwise known as “MOJO.”
Harker Heights High School:
Heights enters this game representing District 12-6A with a 3-0 record. Heights got to 3-0 with wins over Killeen Ellison HS, Smithson Valley HS, and Round Rock Cedar Ridge HS. The Knights are led by Senior Running Back Re’Shaun Sanford, a pledge to The University of Houston. (I have attached a link to Sanford’s 247 Sports recruiting profile.)
Permian High School:
Permian enters this game representing District 2-6A also obtaining a 3-0 record. This record includes victories against Abilene HS, Waco Midway HS and Amarillo Tascosa HS. The Panthers are led by Senior quarterback Rodney Hall who has an offer list that includes, Army, Navy and Bucknell University. If I had to guess by the season’s end Hall will have a few more offers. (I have attached a link to Hall’s 247 Sports recruiting profile.)
Predictions for the Game:
I think this is going to be a very competitive hard fought football game well into the 4th quarter, where the winner is decided by one possession. With that said though, I think the Knights of Harker Heights High School will overcome the 5 and a half hour bus ride and beat the 6 time state state champs. My final score prediction is 24-20 Heights over MOJO.
