It’s safe to say Texas football had a rough first half against the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend. In the first 30 minutes of competition, Georgia led 23-0, with Texas Longhorns star quarterback Quinn Ewers forced to take a seat late in the second quarter in favor of backup Arch Manning. However, after a lengthy halftime and much-needed adjustments, Texas started to make a run in the third quarter, scoring on the opening drive via a touchdown pass from Ewers to star wideout Isaiah Bond. Later in the quarter, nursing a 23-8 lead, Bulldogs signal-caller Carson Beck tossed a brutal interception at the UGA 45-yard line to Longhorns defensive back Jahdae Barron.
Behind a thunderous crowd at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, a packed house exploded following Barron’s interception, only for a defensive pass interference call to negate the turnover. Following a replay on the video board near the south endzone, the Texas football faithful went ballistic, tossing trash onto the field in a defiant protest against the officials.
Texas Football Fans Go Crazy Following Brutal DPI Call

According to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports:
Texas students tossing beer bottles and other trash onto the field after what was legitimately a lousy call that negates a Longhorns interception. That’s Sark walking over to calm the masses.
With Texas football trailing by two scores and the Georgia Bulldogs deep inside their territory, UT defensive back Jahdae Barron intercepted an inaccurate pass from signal-caller Carson Beck, only for the referees to flag him for defensive pass interference. Following a public view of the “interference” on the stadium’s massive jumbotron, the Texas Longhorns fans reacted by showering the field with beer bottles and trash. Meanwhile, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian also took exception to the ruling, blaming the officials for the blatant missed call.
However, following discussion, the officials reversed the ruling on the field, with Barron’s interception on Beck standing true. In the following offensive drive for Texas football, Beck’s counterpart, Quinn Ewers, tossed a 17-yard touchdown pass to running back Jaydon Blue. Georgia enters the fourth quarter with a one-touchdown lead but drives deep into UT territory.
