Texas Football: Arch Manning Revealed as Top PFF Quarterback of Week 5 – Report

In a mid-September clash against the UTSA Roadrunners, the Texas football team lost Heisman Trophy hopeful Quinn Ewers to an abdomen injury, sidelining him on a week-to-week basis, including the last two games against the Lousiana-Monroe Warhawks and Mississippi State Bulldogs. In the two contests sans Ewers, the Texas Longhorns outscored their opponents 86-13, including a stellar home win in their SEC opener. In the double-digit victory against the Bulldogs, backup turned starting quarterback Arch Manning went 26-of-31 for 324 yards and two touchdowns.

Manning completed 83% of his passes, threw for well over ten yards per attempt, and played turnover-free football in his team’s 35-13 win. The former five-star recruit earned the top spot in PFF’s Week 5 Power Four QB leaderboard for his efforts.

The only other SEC signal-caller to make the top ten of PFF’s best quarterback performers is Jalen Milroe of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Manning went 26-of-31 for 324 yards and two touchdowns in the win. For the season, Manning has thrown for 900 yards and nine touchdowns against two interceptions. He is completing 71% of his passes. He has also utilized his running ability, scampering for 82 yards and three scores on 13 carries.
