The Texas A&M Aggies were able to solidify the future of the program as the team was able to land one of the brightest prospects in the Class of 2027. After having interest from some of the major programs in the Southeastern Conference, the Aggies were able to win the battle to land one of the top players in the class.
Let’s take a deeper dive into who they were able to recruit and what it means going forward for the Texas A&M Aggies.
Texas A&M Lands #3 QB in 2027 Class

The Texas A&M Aggies were able to land one of the top high school prospects in the Class of 2027 on Sunday as the program had a commitment from four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson. ESPN Junior 300 has him listed as the 63rd-ranked player. Only 13 of the top 100 players on the list have officially committed to a program and after receiving interest from many programs, Johnson chose coach Mike Elko and the Aggies.
This gives the Texas A&M Aggies a deep quarterback depth chart as four-star freshman Brady Hart is there for the 2025 season along with redshirt sophomore Marcel Reed. The program also has four-star Helaman Casuga, who is 296th on the ESPN Junior 300 list.
Johnson is a second-year starting quarterback at Lowndes High School in Georgia and has shown the ability to play well under center as he finished last season throwing for 1,799 yards with 16 passing touchdowns while also running for 318 yards and three rushing touchdowns. The Aggies are going to need to step up and now continue to add help under center for the future as Texas A&M looks to be competitive in the SEC for years to come.
