Terry McLaurin, wide receiver for the Washington Commanders, may not be happy with his team at the moment after reports of missing the team’s OTAs have gone around. NFL expert and renowned journalist Ian Rapoport spoke about this in his recent appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’, remarking that his absence is simply because the team has not given him a juicy contract extension deal.
McLaurin is currently in the last year of his three-year contract extension with the Washington Commanders. The extension was signed back in 2022 and guarantees $53.14 million for the wide receiver. However, the team does not seem eager to play McLaurin anymore and may even trade him before the 2025 NFL season officially kicks off.
“I know Terry was not there for a lot of it. And I would say very much up in the air whether he shows up this week at a contract situation that as of right now, is not great.” Ian Rapoport spoke about Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders in the latest episode of ‘The Pat McAfee Show’.

The Washington Commanders have been quite busy in this NFL offseason and even brought in wide receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers. This is yet another reason why the team would not be too keen on keeping Terry McLaurin at the moment.
Terry McLaurin Gets Support From Jayden Daniels
Meanwhile, Terry McLaurin has received support and backing from various other NFL players, including his own teammate, quarterback Jayden Daniels. A couple of weeks earlier, Daniels spoke to reporters, supporting the idea of McLaurin managing a contract extension with the Washington Commanders.

However, despite the likes of quarterback Jayden Daniels backing him, Terry McLaurin still has not received an extension deal from the Washington Commanders. It seems like the Commanders are almost solidified with the thought of skipping out on McLaurin for the upcoming football season.
The Washington Commanders will be eager to do better in the next NFL season when compared to their previous year. The Commanders could not get back past the conference championships in the last season, being demolished by the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles then went on to clinch the Super Bowl trophy after winning against the Chiefs.

The Commanders will be leaning heavily on quarterback Jayden Daniels to lead their offense, with wide receiver Deebo Samuel contributing. If McLaurin is indeed traded off from the team, the team will rely on Michael Gallup as their backup wide out.
