Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin is entering the final year of his contract, and he is looking to a new long-term deal. Washington had success during the 2024 season by finishing with an 11-6 record and reaching the NFC Championship Game before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Commanders are looking to build off of that success in 2025, but it appears as if there is already a roadblock in the way. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, McLaurin has requested a trade. Well, it will be interesting to see if Washington will even decide to trade him. It would be a surprise if they decided to trade him elsewhere.
NFL Fans React To Terry McLaurin Requesting a Trade From the Washington Commanders

It is a shock that McLaurin would request a trade because he has quarterback Jayden Daniels around. Well, some NFL fans made some interesting comments on Twitter about him requesting a trade from Washington. This is what some of them said:
Terry HATES playing with a good QB

Terry McLaurin stayed with Washington through all the bad times, and he’s the reason they’re good now. And now they don’t want to pay him? Horrible franchise.

Insane to request a trade with the potential offensive upside with Daniels. Fighting over getting 80m vs 100m … lol
Will be out of the league and irrelevant in 2-3 years because of this.

If McLaurin were to be traded, hopefully it is to a potential contending team who needs a wide receiver. It would be a shame if he was traded to a bottom feeder. During the 2024 season with Washington, he caught 82 passes for 1,096 yards receiving, and 13 touchdowns, along with averaging 13.4 yards per reception. McLaurin was targeted 117 times.
If the Commanders were to trade him away, Deebo Samuel would become the number one wide receiver option for Daniels. It will be a massive mistake for Washington to trade McLaurin and the receiving core would take a hit and a potential letdown season would be on the table for them.
