The Tennessee Vols are having a record year-for ticket sales, at least.
The Tennessee Athletic Department announced a sales goal of 10,000 new season tickets for the Vols for 2022. But in true VFL fashion, Vol Nation showed up in a much bigger way.
As of Wednesday, the University of Tennessee has sold 16,781 new season tickets. With an initial goal of 10,000 new season ticket sales for the 2022 season, the Vols have surpassed their target number by 168 percent.
Overall, Tennessee has sold 58,871 season tickets so far. This of 105 percent of the originally targeted figure of 56,000 season tickets. And we’re still roughly one month away from the Vols’ season opener.
Neyland Stadium will host thousands of new season ticket holders in 2022 as Vol Nation turns out to show its continued support for the new direction of the program. In a press release Tennessee Athletic Director Danny White said, “Vol Nation has made an extraordinarily strong statement about their excitement for this team.” This kind of explosive growth in season ticket sales signals another season of excitement from an inarguably solid fanbase.
Current players and top-rated prospects should make note of the fervor of the Vols’ fanbase. With Coach Heupel hungry for a championship and supporters eager to prove the Vols deserve some respect, the possibilities Tennessee presents for its student athletes are tremendous.
The Vols are expected to open within the top 25 this year. With notable successes in recruitment and returning star power like Hendon Hooker and Cedric Tillman, sales numbers like this certainly look like a bright new beginning for the Vols.
A team of expectation rather than belief, Tennessee seems poised to make its way back into serious conversation in the 2022 season. Already, the Vols are having a record year.
