The Tennessee Volunteers aim to contend in the SEC and make their second consecutive College Football Playoff Berth. However, it will be even more challenging after losing their starting quarterback, running back, and top three receivers either to the 2025 NFL Draft or the transfer portal. Therefore, the Volunteers’ offense must count on their returning starters to lead the team, including their tight end.

After spending his first two years of college with Alabama, Miles Kitselman transferred to Tennessee for the 2024 season. He had a solid junior campaign, recording career highs in every receiving category, and finishing fifth on the team in receptions and receiving yards and second in receiving touchdowns. Kitselman recorded 22 receptions for 301 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games.

He suffered a pectoral injury during spring practice and underwent surgery. Many fans wondered if he would be ready for the start of fall camp.

During SEC Media Days, Miles Kitselman provided a massive injury update, via Patrick Brown of GoVols247. He shared that he is ahead of schedule and returned to being a full participant in offseason activities. Kitselman is capable of doing everything the team is doing and should have no limitations for the start of the season.

“It’s going good,” Kitselman said, via Brown. “Ahead of schedule right now. Just trying to focus on day by day. Yeah, I mean, everything’s going ahead of schedule. The doc says that he can’t tell the difference, so just feeling strong now, getting back out there on the field with everybody and yeah, we should be good to go.

“Right now I am able to do everything that the team’s doing, so that’s awesome. I don’t have to sit on the sidelines during OTAs. I’m able to do that. We’re ahead of schedule right now as far as the pec goes.”

He could soar on draft boards with a strong senior showing

Miles Kitselman is currently the seventh-best tight end and the 126th-best prospect overall in PFF’s 2026 NFL Draft Big Board. With a strong senior season and by boosting his receiving totals in 2025, he could soar on draft boards and potentially jump to a Day 2 selection. Now that the Volunteers must count on many younger receivers, Joey Aguilar could target Kitselman, a veteran option, often, providing him a safety blanket in crucial downs.
